Digital Dental X-Rays In
Park Ridge, NJ
Digital Dental X-Rays
Digital Dental X-rays are making it possible for dentists in Park Ridge, NJ to see a person’s total oral health but with 80-90 percent less radiation exposure for the patient. Instead of X-ray film, the technology uses an electronic sensor to capture an X-ray. The dentist can then zoom into these digital images to get an even better look at the scan.
X-rays can help in the early detection of dental problems and help your dental team diagnose pain or discomfort. Dental problems can hide and deteriorate over time before you ever experience symptoms.
Your dentist will use your X-rays to check for these symptoms or conditions:
- Abscess
- Cyst
- Bone loss
- Tumors (cancerous or non-cancerous)
- Decay between your teeth
- Abnormalities in a child’s dental development
- Poor tooth or root positions
- Interior tooth problems
- Problems below the gumline
Early detection can speed up treatment saving you time and money, as well as possible pain and discomfort.
How Safe Are Dental X-rays?
Thanks to technological advances, digital X-rays submit patients to far less radiation than traditional dental X-rays. Even with the very small amount of radiation involved, our office takes every preventative measure to protect patients from harmful radiation during X-rays. We only take X-rays when they are necessary and provide patients with a lead apron that protects the body.
Digital X-rays are faster for your dental staff to complete, which means shorter visits to our office. We also dispose of less waste and chemicals because we don’t have to develop the X-rays since they are entirely digital.
How Often Do Patients Need Dental X-rays?
Each patient’s need for X-rays is unique based on their health and symptoms. At Pascack Dental Arts, we only recommend X-rays when they are truly necessary. Here are a few ways we know when X-rays are necessary:
- Based on your age and medical or dental history
- If your dental team sees concerning symptoms during an exam
- When patients come in with symptoms that need an X-ray to diagnose
- Your risk factors for disease, such as family history
Generally, we recommend a full mouth series of X-rays for our new patients. These X-rays are good for three to five years. We also recommend bite-wing X-rays once or twice a year to check for dental problems. These X-rays show us your upper and lower teeth biting together.

"A little over three years ago, my older daughter Carolyn, had a bicycle accident. One of her permanent front teeth was actually knocked out. We called the office and they told us to come in immediately. It was about 6 p.m. Everyone was concerned and helpful. Dr.Guller reinserted her tooth. Needless to say, we were very frequent visitors to this office. Everyone knew us and always asked how Carolyn was doing. With everyone’s long-term help, Carolyn’s teeth look great!
Our entire family comes to Pascack Dental Arts. It’s a great place for complete dental care."
