Dentures are removable appliances that help replace missing teeth and tissue. We make dentures to match your natural teeth so that your smile remains as beautiful as it's always been.
We offer two different types of dentures – partial or complete. When you've lost all your teeth, complete dentures provide a removable replacement set.
Depending on your preference, we can do immediate or conventional dentures. With immediate dentures, we pre-make the device before removing your teeth. Then, you take home your dentures that same day so you’re never without teeth. You can come back and have them adjusted as the gum tissue heals and changes.
Conventional dentures allow the gums time to heal after tooth extraction and generally, we implement those about a month or a month and a half later.
If you still have some natural teeth, partial dentures can help keep your mouth feeling great and functional, while preserving those natural teeth. Partial dentures both replace missing teeth and prevent nearby teeth from shifting out of place.
Getting dentures at Pascack Dental Arts will take several visits to our office over the course of many weeks. We start with taking impressions of your mouth to make sure we create custom dentures that feel and look great. Then we invite you back for some appointments where you try them on. We’ll take this time to adjust the dentures to fit just right and match the shape and color to meet your needs.
When you first get your dentures, you will likely experience some soreness and increases in saliva flow. It will take some time to get used to chewing and speaking while wearing your dentures. But be sure to call our office if you're experiencing serious or long-term discomfort.
During your final visit, we’ll explain how to care for your dentures. To keep them looking and feeling great, you’ll want to use good oral hygiene practices and visit your dentist regularly.
