What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants replace missing teeth and their roots. This permanent option is more comfortable and convenient than some other replacement techniques. You’ll be amazed at what a dental implant can do to enhance your smile. But the best thing about dental implants is they make that area of your mouth functional again
Dental Implant Process
Dental implants generally take a few months to complete. The great news though is that once in place, a dental implant can last for decades. Getting an implant includes four stages.
-
Planning: we’ll take some time getting to know you and your oral health to make sure you’re a good candidate for an implant. Then, we’ll plan the process from start to finish. If you still have the damaged tooth in place, we’ll remove it and do any other treatments you might need before your implant, such as a bone graft or sinus lift.
-
Post placement: once your jaw is prepped, we’ll place the implant post. This creates a firm foundation for your new tooth.
-
Healing: now that the implant post is in place, your mouth needs some time to heal. This healing period ensures that your jawbone firmly fuses with the implant post. The healing phase ensures that your new tooth has a firm, stable foundation to withstand the force of chewing.
-
Completion: Dr. Guller is now ready to secure your new tooth to your implant post. We might need to make some minor adjustments to the implant for comfort, but at this point, you can chew and use that area of your mouth again.
What You Need to Know About Bone Grafting
Some patients lose part of their bone to infection. When that happens, bone grafting can restore your natural bone to prepare your mouth for an implant. Inadequate bone could mean that an implant is unsuccessful as there isn’t enough foundation to attach it to.
What You Need to Know About a Sinus Lift
For various reasons, your bone below your sinuses can be too thin. A sinus lift helps add bone to the area for strength and stability. The process can help lift your facial structure in addition to providing a firm foundation for your jaw.
What You Need to Know About Tooth Extractions
Tooth extraction is always a last resort at Pascack Dental Arts. We’ll always try to save your natural tooth through other means before extracting it. However, when a tooth has decayed or become too loose to save, we recommend an extraction to make way for a dental implant.
Additional Dental Restoration Services
Implants can include various restoration services to give you the smile you want. Here’s a look at some restoration services that might go along with your dental implant.
-
Crown: a crown goes over your implant to make it look like your natural teeth.
-
Bridge: if you’re missing more than one tooth, a bridge supported by implants can restore that series of teeth.
-
Full or partial dentures: once patients have lost many teeth on their upper or lower jaw, we use implants to support full or partial dentures to restore your jaw’s function and your smile’s beauty. To place full dentures, it generally takes about six to eight implants to secure them in place.
Caring Staff Powered By Advanced Technology
First and foremost, our goal is to keep you comfortable and at ease during all visits to Pascack Dental Arts. Our team is caring and knowledgeable. We use modern technology and equipment to make your visit fast, accurate and as pain-free as possible.
Digital X-rays enable us to zoom and see your mouth in a way traditional X-rays never could. This helps us deliver accurate diagnosis and create a treatment plan designed just for you. We'll share these digital images with you as we discuss your options to make sure you understand the procedures and next steps.
To ensure your comfort, we also offer sedation. Our trained anesthesiologist can administer oral or IV sedation or laughing gas. We also use the following advanced technology for faster implants.
- All-on-4® Dental Implant System: when patients are missing all teeth on their upper or lower jaw, using the All-on-4® Dental Implant System can provide fast, durable results using four implants to restore your teeth.
- Teeth In A Day®: this technology enables us to place your new teeth the same day we put in your implant posts. That means fewer appointments and a faster road to a beautiful smile.
Treating Gum Disease
Gum tissue provides the foundation for oral health. Our goal is to find gum disease before it causes serious damage to your oral health. We make sure to remove all gum disease before beginning the dental implant process to ensure excellent results and preserve the health of your other teeth.
How a Dental Laser Makes Care More Comfortable
A dental laser can aid us in removing gum disease or tissue harmed by gum disease in a more comfortable way to prepare for your dental restoration. Using a laser allows for highly accurate treatment and reduces pain and discomfort. But don’t worry, we always explain procedures before beginning them so you understand what we’re doing and why.

"A little over three years ago, my older daughter Carolyn, had a bicycle accident. One of her permanent front teeth was actually knocked out. We called the office and they told us to come in immediately. It was about 6 p.m. Everyone was concerned and helpful. Dr.Guller reinserted her tooth. Needless to say, we were very frequent visitors to this office. Everyone knew us and always asked how Carolyn was doing. With everyone’s long-term help, Carolyn’s teeth look great!
Our entire family comes to Pascack Dental Arts. It’s a great place for complete dental care."
