Orthodontic Treatment (Braces) FOR RESIDENTS OF BERGEN COUNTY, NJ
Orthodontic Treatment (Braces)
Pascack Dental Arts specialize in orthodontic treatment (braces) for residents of Bergen County, NJ
Orthodontic treatment is a great way to enhance a person’s self-image. Beautiful teeth are certainly a great achievement, the improvements to a person’s oral health are also important and beneficial. Through treatments, a person can alleviate jaw pain and discomfort. Failing to attend to crooked teeth or bite problems could lead to improper wear of your teeth, cavities or jaw problems.
Braces are a great way to treat orthodontic needs. As dental research improves braces, they get more comfortable to wear and simpler to undergo the treatment. Now you can even get clear brackets or ones that are tooth-colored. With these advances, dentists can treat patients of Bergen County, NJ with fewer adjustments and office visits.
Talk to your dentist to see if you’re a good candidate for braces. Or, read up on other treatment options, such as Invisalign®, and meet with our staff to learn more.
Conditions Braces Can Treat for Adults and Children
Breathing and swallowing issues: sometimes a bite issue can lead to mouth breathing or trouble swallowing. Braces can fix the bite and get you breathing better and swallowing easily.
Crossbite: if some of your upper teeth sit inside your lower teeth, this is known as a crossbite. Braces can remedy the issue.

Crowding: when your mouth doesn't have enough space for your teeth, they come in crooked and terribly misaligned. We address that problem with braces.
-
Overbite: when your upper teeth sit further out from your lower teeth, this is known as an overbite.
-
Face and mouth appearance problems: the position of the jaw can affect the look of your face and mouth. By correcting bite problems, we can beautify both the inside and outside of your mouth.
-
Jaw pain: a poor bite can lead to serious jaw pain or joint pain around the jaw.
-
Missing teeth: if you’re missing teeth, we can create solutions to replace them or close gaps between teeth to make your jaw more functional in that area.
-
Overjet: when your upper teeth protrude, this is known as an overjet. It happens when people have a short lower jaw. Braces can remedy this issue.
-
Space between teeth: we can close gaps between teeth to make them visually more appealing.
-
Underbite: when the lower jaw sits further forward than the upper jaw, this is known as an overbite.
-
Childhood issues from thumb sucking: this habit can cause the upper incisor teeth to protrude. And it can lead to mouth breathing. We correct the issue quickly to avoid issues later in life.
-
Poor tooth eruption locations: when a child’s teeth erupt in the wrong places, we guide them back into place using braces.
What’s the Treatment Process for Braces?
Braces include three main phases. We’ll explain in detail what happens in each of these phases so you know what to expect.
1. Planning Phase
During this initial phase, you’ll likely come in for a few appointments. We’ll start by reviewing your medical and dental history. Then we’ll take impressions of your teeth. Next, we’ll create a computer-generated image of your head and neck, which will help us plan the changes to your teeth and jaw. We’ll take X-rays of your teeth and jaws and photos of your face and mouth for documentation purposes.
2. Active Phase
Now you're ready for your braces. The active phase includes getting your braces on and visiting our office for regular adjustments. At each appointment, we'll discuss changes you might make to your oral hygiene practices and detail how things are going.
3. Retention Phase
You might think that the day you get your braces off is when your treatment ends. However, you want to keep your straight, beautiful smile. So we create retainers to keep your teeth from shifting. We’ll explain how often to wear your retainers and what to expect from teeth and bone movements.
The duration of your treatment will vary based on your unique needs and goals for getting braces. We’ll do our best to provide accurate and beautiful treatment in as little time as possible, but we’re also focused on making sure your smile lasts a lifetime.

"A little over three years ago, my older daughter Carolyn, had a bicycle accident. One of her permanent front teeth was actually knocked out. We called the office and they told us to come in immediately. It was about 6 p.m. Everyone was concerned and helpful. Dr.Guller reinserted her tooth. Needless to say, we were very frequent visitors to this office. Everyone knew us and always asked how Carolyn was doing. With everyone’s long-term help, Carolyn’s teeth look great!
Our entire family comes to Pascack Dental Arts. It’s a great place for complete dental care."
